January celebrations for the Girls!  A Christening cake for Iris and a 40th Birthday Theatre Cake for West End Star Meredith

Two amazing cakes were ordered for early January - first the beautiful confection in pink for Iris, who was due to be christened in the snowiest week in Hampshire for many a long while!  Second, a flamboyant "theatre" cake for Meredith Braun celebrating a special birthday - and featuring many of the shows she has starred in over the years and also her latest album cover.... wonderful fun!

New "Angel Wedding Cake" launched!

On Saturday 3rd November we attended a small, but delightful, wedding event at All Saints Church in Catherington, Hampshire.  A beautiful church - and warm, welcoming clergy and staff - all made for a lovely couple of hours with many couples taking the chance to soak up the atmosphere of the church they will marry in...  We were asked to attend and exhibit a couple of cakes.  I took a Cupcake Tower in "our colours" of hot pink and purple and used the occasion to "launch" the Angel Wedding Cake (below left).

Calling all the Heroes! .... Batman and Spiderman Cakes for the boys!
With a Spiderman themed christening cake in the books already for later in October, I've been getting myself "superhero" ready in recent weeks!  Here are a couple of cakes I've made during October; Batman for Lovedean lad George, and 3 year old Charlie from Basingstoke asked for Spiderman's head!  Come on girls, I'm now waiting for a request for Wonder Woman....!

Darth Vadar Cake

May the Force be with you!

A few weeks back, I was asked to create a Darth Vadar cake for a young Star Wars fan celebrating his birthday... including some dairy free cupcakes in a co-ordinating theme.

Here is the Darth Vadar head that I carved for the occasion... all edible in chocolate cake and sugarpaste.  The cupcakes were topped with keepsake cupcake rings for the young partygoers - Darth Vadar Masks and Stormtroopers for all!

A Romantic Wedding at Amberley Castle

At the end of August I travelled to Amberley Castle in Sussex for the romantic wedding of Diane and Mike.  What a stunning location, and the bride and groom were lucky enough to enjoy perfect sunshine in the afternoon following a very wet morning indeed!

The Great Hall was resplendent and I set up the stand in the "bay" window (although I'm sure it wasn't called a Bay Window back in the day!).  Lemon, Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes... decorated in Celebration Ivory and Burgundy Roses.  Topped with a rich fruit cake in co-ordinating colours and three stunning large handmade roses.

*Sigh*... all very "Knights of the Round Table"!

Pretty in Pink & Pearls at 30!
 30-40 and wonky wonky 044

Alton resident Trudy called up for a special Wonky cake for her neice's 30th birthday... the remit was for feminine and pastel colours, pink & butterflies.

The cake was decorated in a limited palette to keep the romantic feel, pinks, creams and accent purple.  The pearls draped around the two tiers acted to accentuate the "wonkyness".... with a sparkling diamante "30" on the top.

 Gerbera Wedding Tower
red & black gerbera wedding tower

In May this year we made a small, but perfectly formed, wedding cake tower for a former clients mother-in-law and her partner who were getting married in a hotel on the coast close to Widley.

The colour palette was red and black, and the flower choice was the ever beautiful Gerbera (such a happy and bonny flower!).  If you'd like to read all about it and see a picture of the complete stand visit my blog here.

18th Birthday "Hobby" Wonky Cake for Maddie

In June, I was asked to make a very special wonky cake for an 18th birthday - incorporating all the favourite things of the birthday girl's life (to date at least!), including her love of music and, of course, her Westie "Ted"!  Read more here....

Winnie The Pooh Wonky Cake    Waybuloo 1st Birthday cake
 Winnie The Pooh Wonky    Waybuloo

A call came from Porchester a few weeks back, where a local mum had seen my ad in the Stay Local magazine - and the picture of my Alice in Wonderland Wonky cake.   "Could you make a Winnie the Pooh wonky cake and some matching cupcakes for my son's 1st birthday/christening?" I was asked.... well of course, as I adore designing wonky cakes and loved Winnie the Pooh myself as a child, what else would I say but "YES"!

I had such fun making these cakes... Happy Birthday Riley!

Purbrook resident Debbie asked me to create a Waybuloo celebration cake for her grandson Kyle, celebrating his 1st Birthday.... to be honest, I'd never heard of Waybuloo but did a little bit of Googling and found the BBC website which gave me all the inspiration I needed.   A bright and happy party cake of 3 tiers all made from a moist chocolate cake was the result... and I gather it went down a storm with Kyle and his cousins!

A Teapot Cake for a much loved Mum    Jack's Pirate Ship - Ahoy me hearties!
teapot cake june    Pirate ship Cake
This time, an 80th Birthday cake for "a really special mum" and one who helps by making copious amounts of tea and coffee for her daughter's clients (hairdresser in Portsmouth).  So what else to do? Yes, a teapot in Chocolate cake with a base of rich fruit cake... lovely x   My next featured kiddie's birthday cake is the pirate ship I made for 4 year old Jack.... with chocolate cake ship, rolo canons and polo portholes!  A keepsake pirate and the Jolly Roger flag completed this nautical design.
